Easier With A Rig

4 days ago 16 Views

Getting a Glidecam HD 2000 or a DJI Ronin-M Video Gimbal may seem like the only tool when it comes to getting your video stabilization ready. Many times when you are out on a shoot you realize holding either of those pieces of equipment can become physically demanding, resulting in several breaks in between scenes. There is a solution out there that you may not know we carry here at the Lens Depot!

One of those Solutions is the Glidecam X10 Vest System. This can be used with the Glidecam HD 2000 or the Glidecam HD 4000. It is a special rig because it completely takes the load off of your arm and evenly distributes the weight throughout your upper body. You can go for hours with this on if you'd like. Combined with the stabilizer, it covers you on all axis's meaning you can run, climb stairs and even jump and still keep a nice smooth shot all the way through!

The solution for the DJI Ronin-M Video Gimbal comes through the Easyrig MiniMax Camera Support System (Supports 4.4-15.4lbs) & Easyrig Cinema Vario 5 Camera Support System (Supports 11-38lbs). The Ronin becomes physically demanding on your arms after using it for for a scene or two, resulting in having to place it back on the stand in between scenes. To relieve the load of the system, these two rigs take the weight from the top of the rig giving you full motion and use of the rig without feeling it in your arms. The weight gets distributed through the vest for hours of shooting power!

Both of these rig systems are available to rent now at The Lens Depot. You can pair them up or rent them separately. These rigs are a must have at your next shoot and will also give you a more desirable shooting look. You can take a look at all of these options and more in the Stabilizer section of the website!

DJI Introduces the Phantom 4 Pro

18 days ago 135 Views

DJI had a big announcements this week by unveiling a brand new addition to their ever-growing Phantom lineup. The Phantom 4 Pro+ improves upon the already stellar Phantom 4 drone with some welcome additions. The biggest change to the Phantom 4 Pro+ is a brand new 1-inch image sensor, a first for DJI. This brand new sensor allows still images up to 20 megapixels and 4K video at up to 60 frames per second. Video is now captured at a 100Mbps bitrate over the original Phantom 4's 60Mbps.

The body is very similar to that of the Phantom 4, with some key improvements. There are now vision sensors in both the front and rear of the craft, with new infrared sensors on the left and right sides. This also improves the ActiveTrack feature, allowing pilots to select between trace, profile, and spotlight modes. The improved battery also allows flight times of up to 30 minutes, the most of any DJI drone. Last, the remote now features a built-in 5.5" 1080p screen, reducing the need to provide your own phone or tablet and simplifying the pre-flight process. This will also help improve latency and video lag.

The DJI Phantom 4 Pro is expected before the end of 2016 and can be pre-ordered here. Stay tuned for updates on when the Phantom 4 Pro+ will be available. Below is a video preview from DJI.

Coming Soon: DJI Mavic Pro Drone

2 months ago 230 Views

Hot off the success of their Phantom and Inspire1 series, DJI has announced a new addition to their drone line, the Mavic Pro. What makes the DJI Mavic Pro Drone so special? It is able to fold down for travel and transport to a mere 7.8" x 3.26" x 3.26" and weighs in at only 1.64lbs. Despite it's size, it can fly at up to 40MPH when in Sport mode, similar to that found in the DJI Phantom 4. The brand new controller is small enough to fit in your pocket and if you don't want to bother with the controller you can completely control the drone with your smartphone using virtual joysticks! Lets take a look at some of the key features this drone has to offer!

True 4K Quality

The Mavic has done away with electronic image stabilization in the camera to give you true 4K image quality! Instead, they have built the smallest 3-axis high, precision gimbal that DJI has ever made. All 3-axis's are equipped with a brushless motor to give you smooth great looking footage without being affected by the movement of the DJI Mavic Pro Drone. The camera featured on the drone is equipped with a 1/2.3 inch sensor with the ability to record DCI 4K (4096 x 2160) at 24fps, UHD 4K (3840 x 2160) at 24, 25, & 30fps, 1080 at 96fps and can take 12mp stills.

Safer & Smarter

The DJI Mavic Pro Drone is a safer and smarter drone. The drone comes equipped with dual IMU Senors which acquire the angle, speed and acceleration of Mavic and dual compasses which provides its ability to navigate. If one sensor goes out the other sensor kicks in ensuring safe and proper flight reliability. The Mavic takes full advantage of collecting data about the environment around it through FlightAutonomy which uses 5 cameras, dual-band satellite positioning (GPS and GLONASS), 2 ultrasonic rangefinders, redundant sensors, and 24 specialized computing cores. This technology examines the 3D space around it and takes photos to create a 3D map to let it know the location of everything surrounding it. Having forward and downward sensors active, the DJI Mavic Pro Drone can fly with complete stability indoors or out. The onboard ultrasonic system also gathers height information to keep the Mavic leveled while flying over changing terrain.

Dynamic Control Options

The DJI Mavic Pro Drone comes with a newly designed touch screen enabled control that is small enough to fit in your pocket. The Mavic utilizes OcuSync transmission system opposed to the commonly used WiFi transmission system. Utilizing the new system gives the Mavic the ability to stream 720p video at a maximum distance of 4.3 miles and 1080p video in short range mode. The new DJI Mavic Pro Drone also has several different flight modes including a new tap to fly mode which enables users to simply tap the screen where you would like the drone to fly without using the joysticks. Not to worry if you forget your controller at home. You can use your smart phone through wifi and still have access to all the great features and fly with on screen virtual joy stick.

The Mavic is essentially a breakthrough drone! Everyone is excited about the power behind this 4K drone. This drone can truly serve the purpose to any beginner looking to try a drone out or the professional looking to take his or her project to the next level! If you want to get a little more in depth, check out the video below. Reservations being accepted now on the new DJI Mavic Pro Drone!

Rent DJI Inspire 1 Pro X5 Dual Controller

This week we've added an the DJI Inspire 1 Pro with X5 camera. This is something we've been getting a lot of requests to add, and we're very excited to start renting it!

Although the body looks similar, the upgraded Inspire 1 Pro body features motors that are 30% faster than the existing Inspire 1 with X3 camera to accommodate the larger X5 camera and gimbal. The new Inspire 1 Pro body also features upgraded carbon fiber rods, a new quick-release locking mechanism for the blades, and slightly longer landing gears.

The biggest change however is the X5 camera, which offers a Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor with a 15mm f/1.7 lens. The X5 camera gives you full control over manual exposure settings including the aperture, shutter, and ISO. You can also capture 4K video at 30 frames per second in MOV or MP4 and 16 megapixel photos in JPEG or Adobe DNG RAW.

What's Included and What You'll Need

Our DJI Inspire 1 Pro X5 comes with 2 controllers, allowing one person to operate the drone while another operates the camera. The kit also includes a battery charger, extra set of props, 2 TB47 batteries, a filter set with UV, CPL, ND16, and ND2-400 filter, and a Go Professional hard case.

You will need a Smart Phone or Tablet with its corresponding USB cable and the latest version of the DJI GO app. A Micro SDHC card up to 64GB is also required to store video or still images. Flight time per battery is approximately 12-15 minutes, so if you need more time we also recommend renting an Extra TB-47 battery.
